A Strategic Enterprise Framework for Integrating Large Language Models with SAP Business Technology Platform to Enable Intelligent Automation and Operational Excellence

Abstract

This study develops a strategic enterprise framework for integrating large language models with SAP Business Technology Platform to advance intelligent automation, operational efficiency, and informed decision making across complex business environments. Enterprises frequently encounter fragmented data, disconnected applications, repetitive processes, and limited contextual intelligence, creating a critical need for an integrated approach that connects language processing capabilities with enterprise systems. The research addresses this problem through a mixed method design combining systematic literature analysis, enterprise process evaluation, architectural modelling, and quantitative performance assessment. The proposed framework integrates large language models with data management, application development, integration, analytics, and workflow automation services to support contextual information retrieval, process coordination, knowledge assistance, and responsive business operations. Findings indicate that the framework improves process accuracy, reduces manual intervention, strengthens information accessibility, and enables consistent decisions across functional domains. Its principal innovation lies in establishing a governed architectural structure that aligns language model capabilities with enterprise data, security controls, business rules, and operational requirements. Strategically, the study provides organizations with a practical foundation for scalable automation and sustained operational excellence.
